On a large panel package, freight and lead time move the final number more than the panel price does. KPS Global manufactures walk-in cooler and freezer panels in Fort Worth. Metl-Span runs a plant up in Lewisville. For a Metroplex project that is a truck across town instead of across several states, and it is a factory we can drive to when a detail has to be settled face to face rather than over three days of email.
The second thing that separates a good panel package from a cheap one is who owns the joints. A panel supplier sells panels. On a cold storage envelope the failures almost never show up in the middle of a panel — they show up at the penetrations, the door frames, the wall-to-floor transition and the roof-to-wall detail, which is to say at every point where one trade hands off to the next. We install the panels, the doors, the coving and the refrigeration, so those handoffs happen inside one company and there is nobody to point at.
If the building is a freezer on grade, there is one decision worth making before almost any other. A freezer refrigerates the ground beneath it. Water in that subgrade freezes and expands, and the slab heaves unevenly — cracked floors, doors that bind, racking out of plumb, and no patch that puts it right. A PEX glycol grid below the slab insulation holds the subgrade above freezing. It cannot be retrofitted, because the tubing goes in before the pour. Panel spans and the floor system also drive one another, so both want settling before anything is ordered.
Being independent of any single line is the last piece. A supplier tied to one manufacturer will specify that manufacturer whatever the job needs. We run five, so the choice comes down to three questions — temperature and duty cycle, code and occupancy, appearance — and on a package this size we will show you the comparison on your actual drawings rather than a headline price that moves the moment the real spec lands.
R-values, retrofit liners inside existing metal buildings, lead times, and what actually drives the spec in Texas heat load.
Insulated Wall Panels →KPS Global, Metl-Span, Kingspan, FALK Panel and Globe Panels — what each is for and how the choice gets made.
Panel Manufacturers →Thermal envelopes, containment walls built around live racks, battery rooms and acoustic generator enclosures.
Data Center Panels →The underfloor glycol loop in full — why slabs heave, what the grid does, and why it has to be decided before the pour.
Cold Storage Warehouses →Send us the drawings or just the scope. We will tell you which panel line fits, what it costs delivered, and whether the schedule on the page is a real one.
