Almost every walk-in cooler quote looks the same on paper. The differences show up two years in, and they are nearly always in the same four places.
The floor. Freezers built on grade without under-slab protection will eventually heave and crack. It is the most expensive thing to fix and the easiest thing to leave off a bid, so compare quotes on the floor detail before you compare them on price.
The door. A walk-in door gets opened thousands of times a month, and the hinges, closer, gasket, and anti-sweat heat are what fail first. Heavier hardware costs more up front and less over the life of the box.
The envelope continuity. Cold escapes through thermal breaks — a poorly sealed joint, a penetration nobody detailed, a corner that was field-cut. Continuous insulation and properly closed joints are the difference between a unit that cycles normally and one that runs constantly.
Who answers when it fails. If the panels, doors, and refrigeration came from three suppliers, a warranty problem becomes a negotiation. We build all of it as one scope so there is one number to call.
